Ubuntu try..

OK so the Clipboard.SetText() method does not work under mono in Ubuntu 9.04 out of the box. Moreover, when clicking the "Upload a new image:" text field below, I get a browser window, blocking any paste-attempt. But since the clipboard is empty anyway that does not really matter.

Oh well I'll just have to be happy with Screenshot-dumping from within VirtualBox then. That's OK for now.
